Geometries inspired by Stepwells – Silver Panel for Private Residence

Ahmedabad, Gujarat | 2012-14

The silver panel to the entrance of this private building invokes the Panchamabhuta or the five primordial elements. It gestures towards the traditional inverted architecture of Gujarat, or the Stepwell, by playing with layering in two dimensions. The set of four silver panels, two in front and back respectively, were made during a workshop of master silversmiths over a period of three months.

This is one of a dozen conceived artworks by Siddhartha Das for the residence.
